Harvested from the Hala Tree (Pandanus Odoratissimus),
the finest quality natural palm in the world. The Hala
tree was very important to the Polynesians since it is
indigenous to the Polynesian Islands. Its leaves are used
to make floor mats, wall mats and roofing materials. Island
Thatch chooses premium only, earth friendly Lauhala,
matting and offer them to you in 4 ft x 8 ft sheets that
have been all hand woven using palm leaves to form a 1"
diamond checkered pattern. The flexible and durable matting,
achieved through intensively focused labor by hand, can be
cut or trimmed without the risk of unraveling. Glue or staple
the matting to any surface and begin to realize a tropical ambiance immediately.
Island Thatch's all natural matting is harvested from carefully selected material derived from palm and other leaves and is offered as Lauhala, Bac Bac and Lampac matting. We have carefully identified providers of the best earth friendly products to offer, and are proud of our work supporting indigenous cultures through our purchase of their hand woven products. These products are considered eco-friendly because they don't cause damage to the environment when they are being made. They are ecologically sound when their lifespan is over as they are fully biodegradable. With an array of sizes to choose from, you can find the right size for any project.
