Description

Made from carefully selected Pandanus leaves or from the Hala Tree leaves, our Fine Weave matting is created through a long process of leaf preparation by artisans who use this work as their livelihood. The detailed weaving process is highly labor intensive and comes only after a long preparation of the leaves that includes drying them in the sun, removing the thorns, cleaning the leaves one by one in the ocean, then softening and flattening them.

Our diamond checkered patterned matting is prepared into sheets sized 4ft by 8 ft which you can use for a variety of indoor and outdoor projects by affixing it with either glue or staples. The remote area that provides the leaves for this product has an endless supply of the raw materials. The matting was originally conceived of as a sleeping mat in the Philippines which kept the demand high and the artisan craftwork evolving over the decades.

Easily applied our matting will work in a variety of places, indoors and out, and will render an earth friendly feel to anywhere you place it.

These products are considered eco-friendly because, they don't cause damage to the environment when they are produced or disposed of. Application is easy; the matting can be, either glued or stapled to any surface. All our matting is flexible and pliable and can be cut or trimmed without the risk of unraveling. The product can be used for both interior and exterior projects and treated with clear polyurethane or varnish for added sheen and durability.
